Mayra Sérgio

Bio + CV

Mayra Sérgio was born in Rio de Janeiro and is currently based in Amsterdam.

Sérgio studied Cinema and worked for 5 years as a Set Designer in Brazil until she moved to the Netherlands in 2013. Through her studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, she was able to combine the sense of narrative acquired by her previous practice with the Dutch approach of material research. Her work investigates decolonising procedures of selfhood through a sensorial scope.

Sérgio's work has been featured in Frame Magazine and the New York Times amongst other publications.
