Fever
2024–
Pink resin-bonded plywood is widely used in Brazil in construction sites and to build temporary structures. The “Fever” series employs this material as a base to explore the delirious dream of progress inherent in Brazilian architectural modernism. The material’s vibrant color contrasts with its precarious structure, suggesting both the seduction and the fragility of these progressive ideals. Within a fever dream aesthetic the series entangles depictions of the local Atlantic Forest flora with the bold lines of existing modernist buildings, highlighting the alluring yet unstable nature of modernism as it has been experienced in Brazil.
